Foodies! Lovers of good drinks! We’ve all been locked up for so long. Now that the restrictions are coming to an end, I am struck by a super important question:
Now what do we do?
I’m sharing some of my favourite Munich places to eat and drink, now that we can. Many of them are not secret locations, but they are all GOOD!
Noodles
I love a good noodle house for fast, yummy food. My favourites are:
Max’s Beef Noodles (they do vego options too)
Sendlinger-Tor-Platz 10, 80336 München
Nothing fancy to look at, but they hand make the noodles as you order. The food is worth struggling with the constant construction of Sendlinger Tor train station below.
Sapporo Ramen TAKUMI München
Heßstraße 71, 80798 München
Don’t make the mistake of ordering a starter. The ramen bowls are huge! Be prepared to wait ’cause this place is not a secret.
Indian
Madame Chutney
Frauenstraße 11, 80469 München
How many ways can you say, “Holy crap this is delicious”? Plus, it has the benefit of having perhaps the best door in Munich. You will need to reserve, unless you get it delivered.
Breakfast
Das Maria
Klenzestraße 97, 80469 München
Simply gorgeous decor and great food. Book ahead.
Ooh Baby I Like It Raw
Rumfordstraße 39, 80469 München
BAGELS! Plus vegan and gluten free options. Though she be but little she is fierce. And delicious.
Cooking classes
Vesbar
Maistraße 49, 80337 München
Cooking in a mechanics garage? Oh yes, the fun you will have. Oh yes, the food you will eat. With a Michelin Star chef, you can’t avoid learning from this evening. Pricey but worth it. They also offer Vespa repair classes too, for all you Italophiles.
Fancy Vegetarian
Green Beetle
Chef’s menu, you choose how many courses of joy you can fit in! Relaxed atmosphere and great, organic food.
Craft beer
Hopdog
Auenstraße 100, 80469 München
Craft beer and hotdogs. Loads of exclusive-to-Munich craft beers on tap and fridges full of cans and bottles of other goodness. Vegan hotdogs are on offer and the music is good. We also like that the availability of beer is updated live, so you can see how much of your favourite tipple is left.
Biergärten
I mean they are all fun. There are some must do Touristic Bavarian experiences, such as Hofbrauhaus, Platzl 9, 80331 München, or there are the foresty ones like Waldheim Waldheim 1, 81377 München. My advice, go to them all. Or, you can just wait until Oktoberfest starts again. Daumen drücken!
Cocktails
Au Room
Hans-Sachs-Straße 20, 80469 München
Tom Kha Maak for the win. Simply the best cocktails in Munich. Book ahead as standing is not a thing in this bar.
Call Soul – Breaking Bar
Biedersteiner Str. 6, 80802 München
Dramatic drinks and a Breaking Bad atmosphere. Strange and delightful. Maybe your cocktail will be an astronaut. Or maybe a cactus. Either way, it’ll be fun.
Coffee Shops
Kaffee Werkstatt
Planegger Str. 1, 82061 Neuried
This rosterei sells a good range of coffee beans, can fix your machine and also has barista courses.
Ginger and Gray’s
Heßstraße 74, 80798 München
Couches, chai and cake. Love this new kid on the block.
