I like bars. I like alcohol. Here are some bars that have made an impression on me and that I would happily share with you when we end up in this town:
Klo, Berlin, Germany
Klo = toilet. The quirkiest bar I have ever been to. You sit on toilets, drink from specimen jars, things leap out at you from the walls and the MC just takes the piss out of everyone. It’s my go to bar when friends visit me.
Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop, New Orleans, America
The oldest building in America to be used as a bar. Rumoured to be haunted. Gorgeous looking and in the not-so-rowdy end of Bourbon Street.
Leigh Sawmill, Leigh, New Zealand

Live music, great beer, huge garden. What is not to like?
Little Creatures, Freemantle, Australia
Staffed by Freakmantle creatures and when it is hot they spray water on you with a water pistol. Also, good beer.
New Asia Bar, Swissotel, Singapore
I haven’t been since the name change in 2017, but the view will remain. If you are lucky enough to have been to a Helipad party, you’ll never forget it. Imagine: 73 stories up and outside. Terrifying and gorgeous.
Blu Jaz Cafe, Singapore
It’s cute, funky and varied in musical offerings. Blu Jaz is the Singaporean version of hipster. Also, they do spoken word, comedy and open mic nights. Win, win, win.
Deja Vu, Vientiane, Laos
Cause I like to describe my favourite flavours to a barkeep and get a drink made that fits the bill. And because sometimes you need a break from Beerlao and mushroom shakes.
Oscar Wilde Bar, New York, America
Has to be seen to be believed. Lavishly decorated from top to bottom…it looks like a museum or art gallery. With the addition of yum cocktails. My humble Samsung photos do not do it justice, so I stole one from their website.

Potato Head Beach Bar, Bali, Indonesia
Go early, nab a couchie thingie. Don’t leave. Bring sunblock.
Fabric, London, England
Ok, not a bar, but I have raised my finger in the air more than once here.
I’d love to go the Hobbit House in the Philippines. Because…well…why not?
Where would you take me, when I visit?
